About Christen
Christen Konja Bashi, PA-C, CAQ-Psych, is a psychiatric physician assistant at Michigan Mental Wellness, where she has been providing compassionate, individualized mental health care since May 2022.
Christen earned her undergraduate degree in Nutrition from Wayne State University in 2019 before completing the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Dayton in 2021. During PA school, she developed a particular interest in psychiatry. Her training coincided with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when mental health concerns became increasingly visible and many people found themselves struggling in new and profound ways. Witnessing that shift strengthened her desire to pursue a career in mental health and help patients feel supported, understood, and empowered in their care.
Christen treats a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, sleep disorders, and other mood and behavioral health concerns. Her continued passion for psychiatry led her to pursue additional specialty training and certification, earning a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry in September 2025.
Areas of Focus
Therapeutic Approach
Her approach to treatment is collaborative and individualized. Christen believes psychiatric care should extend beyond simply prescribing medication. She works closely with each patient to determine whether medication is appropriate, discusses treatment options in detail, and helps patients make informed decisions based on their individual symptoms, goals, and preferences. When medication is indicated, she brings extensive knowledge of psychiatric medications, including their benefits, risks, potential side effects, and alternatives.
Christen also strongly encourages a whole-person approach to mental wellness. Depending on a patient’s needs, this may include lifestyle modifications, exercise, nutrition, sleep optimization, stress management, psychotherapy, and referrals for additional services or specialized treatments. Her goal is to help patients develop a treatment plan that feels realistic, comprehensive, and sustainable.
Outside of Work
Outside of work, Christen enjoys mixing music, traveling, exercising, reading, cooking, nature, and spending time with loved ones.
